A Shot In the Arm For Geelong
Geelong has had some hard knocks - concern about the viability of the Alcoa aluminium plant, closure of a Government services administration facility, the imminent cessation of Quantas aircraft maintenance at Avalon, the advance notice of a 2016 closure by Ford.
Now is the time to bring new purpose to the many excellent skills and facilities of the City. We can ensure A Bright Future For Geelong if we try hard enough.
The Demise of The Second Australian Dream
As Green As Grass
There are several millions of refugees elsewhere in the world, many of whom have been living without hope for several years.
To Sarah Hanson Young:
Iinstead of railling against the Government, tell the public how the Greens could help these unfortunate fellow human beings. How would you select the fortunate few, to welcome into our country? How many should we accept? How would you provide for their accommodation, food, education, health care and welfare? Where would you obtain the funds necessary for their long term support? Do you believe that we should give priority to those who have sufficient funds to jump the queue, ahead of more patient and possibly more deserving persons?
Until you can offer at least some practicable answers to the difficult questions, I suggest that you should stop behaving like an outraged screeching Green Cockatoo, with ruffled crest feathers. The real players who must shoulder our responsibilities have better things to do, than to provide immediate response to your pointless demands.
Reducing CO2 Emissions Now!
In Australia, household energy consumption is as much as 30% of the national total.
Would you like to freeze your electricity bills forever, maybe even halve them in 5 years' time? Are you fed up with those annoying power outages? Would you like to make a real contribution towards cutting Australia's greenhouse gas emissions?
You must, of course, be prepared to take the well-known steps to improve your domestic energy efficiency, such as changing to LED lighting, installing insulation batts, switching the airconditioner to economy mode, buying a modern TV, using a fast new laptop computer etc. But you could be independent of the electricity supply Company, and become a ZERO CARBON EMITTER with no increase in costs!
